Family Fun Night

Sometimes the weather prevents us from going out, sometimes money, and currently or sometimes a pandemic. Even if those situations do not present themselves a family night is important. When my kids were younger family night was Thursday night. Pick a family night weekly or every other week at the least. The day of the week can change as needed, like football season we did not have movie night on a football night. You can even just sit and watch the game as a family. Making the most of family time is what is important.

  • Movie night: Pick a movie the whole family can enjoy. Meaning age appropriate and something that will keep everyone interested. YOu can even add some fun by dressing up as characters, themed food for dinner or snack. Just use your imagination.

  • Book and Movie night combined: Making it a themed night read the book and watch the movie and compare them. Again do a themed night and dress as a favorite character or make a food related to story.

  • Game Night: This can be watching a sporting event. You can play borad games, trivis, pictionary, or create your own games or make up your own rules. Look up minute to win it games where you can use items around the house to play.

A simple quick snack I put together for my family to eat while we watched movies or played games:

Just mix in a large bowl to serve.

-Popcorn

-small pretzels

-cheetos

-you can add nuts or M&M’s

-chip if you prefer

or you can make rice crispy treats:

1 jar of marshmallow fluff- microwave to soften

2 1/2 cups rice krispies- mix into fluff

spread into a greased pan or pan with parchment paper

cool and then cut

Find a day of the week that works for your family. Make time to make memories. ENJOY!
